Let's Dive a Little Deeper
How does Embodiment work? Is it backed by science?
Yes! Research in neuropsychology has shown that intense emotions can disrupt the brain’s ability to process and articulate experiences. When we go through something traumatic, the speech centers of the brain become impaired, making it difficult—sometimes impossible—to put our experiences into words. This means that simply talking about a painful event doesn’t always lead to healing, especially if the emotional charge is still present in the body. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, a pioneer in trauma research, extensively studied the somatic effects of trauma while on staff at Harvard Medical. His work, particularly in "The Body Keeps the Score", demonstrated that trauma is not just a memory; it is stored in the body, influencing everything from muscle tension to emotional regulation. The body holds onto our experiences in ways the mind may not consciously recognize, which is why somatic approaches, like Embodiment Coaching, focus on the body’s signals rather than just verbal recall. You’ve likely noticed this yourself: When discussing something upsetting, your body might tighten or tense up. In moments of joy, like receiving good news, you might feel lighter, more open, or even physically uplifted. Embodiment Coaching is rooted in curiosity about these bodily responses, using them as a gateway to heal. Many traditional mental health approaches suggest that healing requires recalling and verbally processing past experiences. However, experts like Judith Herman, author of "Trauma and Recovery", emphasize the importance of first establishing a sense of emotional safety and personal empowerment. Without this foundation, revisiting trauma too soon can be re-traumatizing, requiring additional healing each time the event is recalled. Even some somatic practices can be overwhelming if a therapist or coach pushes a client to explore sensations that feel unsafe. Embodiment Coaching eliminates this risk by prioritizing choice and safety. Every sensation that arises is met with a simple but powerful question: "Does this feel safe to explore?" You are always in control of your experience, ensuring that healing happens at a pace that feels right for you.
What does “coaching” mean in this work? Is it like traditional coaching?
Not in the way most people expect. While my title is Certified Embodiment Coach, the work I offer is very different from what many associate with coaching. This isn’t about giving advice, setting performance goals, or telling you how to fix something. It’s not directive or strategy-based like traditional life or business coaching. Instead, this is a trauma-informed, client-led approach rooted in nervous system awareness. The focus is on creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore what’s happening in your body, release stored emotions, and reconnect with your inner wisdom—at your own pace. Rather than analyzing or prescribing, I gently guide and hold space for what’s already unfolding within you. The goal is not to push, but to support you in tuning into yourself so that healing, balance, and self-trust can emerge naturally. It’s about helping you hear your own truth, not someone else’s answers.
How can I prepare for my embodiment session?
Before your session, try to settle into a quiet, uninterrupted space where you feel safe and comfortable, somewhere that allows you to be fully present. Take a few moments to check in with yourself: How are you feeling physically? Emotionally? Mentally? You don’t need to bring anything specific, just a willingness to be curious about whatever is showing up for you. Some clients find it helpful to jot down any recent experiences, patterns, or sensations they’ve noticed in their bodies. Wear comfortable clothing, and know that this space is yours to move, speak, feel, or simply be, exactly as you are. There's no right or wrong way to prepare, just come as you are, and we'll go from there together.
What can I expect during a session?
Explore: Every session begins with setting an intention. What do you want to shift, release, or embody? Whether it’s freeing yourself from tension, rewriting limiting beliefs, or stepping into alignment, we establish a clear focus—your anchor point—for the session. Safety: Next, we create a deep sense of safety within your body. This feels incredible in itself, but it also serves as a grounding tool. If any sensations arise that feel overwhelming, we return to this place of safety, reminding your nervous system that peace is always within reach. Drop-in: With safety as our foundation, we gently shift awareness into the body, tuning into your anchor point and allowing your experience to unfold naturally. Unwind: As we explore your body’s response, stored sensations may begin to release—freeing trapped tension. Some sensations may also guide us toward deeper layers, like emotions, narratives, or boundaries that no longer serve you. When these are acknowledged and given what they need, they no longer have power over you. Your body will naturally signal this transformation, often with feelings of openness, lightness, or empowerment. Freedom: Now that you’ve released what was holding you back, we explore what it means to fully embody this new state. How does this freedom, power, or joy translate into your daily life? If you carried this feeling into your role as a parent, partner, or professional, how would things shift? If you brought this sense of ease into your relationship with money, what choices would you make differently? Integrate: Finally, we take time to soak in this newfound sense of alignment. You’ll let this experience settle, allowing it to transform you from within. If there are any insights or inspired actions that emerge, we explore them together. We conclude with space for reflection, sharing, and embracing the lasting impact of this powerful work.
Is energy healing included in Embodiment Coaching?
Energy healing is sometimes included in sessions as supportive tools to deepen the embodiment process. Techniques such as distance Reiki may be woven into the background of our work together, while the primary focus remains on the liberating practices of Embodiment Coaching and Complex Trauma Recovery.
Are all sessions coaching-based?
Not always. There are times when you may come to a session feeling tired or not ready to engage mentally, and that’s perfectly okay. In those cases, we can focus on restoring and rejuvenating your body through Energy Healing techniques such as Reiki. These sessions allow you to simply relax and receive the healing energy without needing to actively participate in the coaching process.
How does this work with medications and therapy?
Your doctor can provide guidance on how holistic services, like Embodiment Coaching, can complement your medical treatment. Most of my clients have explored therapy at some point, and some are currently in therapy while working with me. Those who are in therapy often express excitement about sharing their Embodiment Coaching experiences with their therapist, as it can be a valuable addition to their healing journey.
How can I prepare for my distance Reiki session?
Before your session, find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed. Taking a few deep breaths, setting an intention, or simply being present can help you prepare. Some clients choose to say a prayer, repeat an affirmation, or do a brief meditation, whatever feels most natural to you. There's no right or wrong way, just come with an open mind and a willingness to receive.
Is distance Reiki as effective as in-person Reiki?
Yes. Energy isn’t limited by physical distance. Many clients find remote sessions just as powerful, if not more, because they can fully relax in their own familiar environment.
Do you need to believe in Reiki for it to work?
No belief is required. Reiki is a gentle, supportive energy that works with your body’s natural ability to heal. Just come with a willingness to receive and an open mind.
The Why Behind the Design
Throughout The Embodiment Journey, every visual detail—from the colors to the shapes—was chosen with intention. These symbols aren’t just decorative; they reflect the heart of the healing process. Here’s what they mean, and why they matter:
The Arrow: A symbol of forward motion
The arrow in my logo is more than a design element—it’s a powerful symbol of the healing journey. Arrows must be pulled all the way back before they can launch forward. That backward draw isn’t failure—it’s preparation. It mirrors our own path through healing: the deep inner work, the stillness, the gathering of strength before moving forward with clarity, purpose, and force. Arrows also carry many layers of meaning: Direction & Purpose – They point the way forward, helping us move with intention rather than drift aimlessly. Focus – Like an archer takes aim, healing requires concentration and determination. Protection – In many traditions, arrows are seen as protectors, warding off negative energy and keeping us safe. Transformation – The flight of an arrow represents growth, change, and becoming. Strength – Arrows need force to fly—just as we draw on inner strength to rise and heal. Even the feathers on an arrow have meaning: they represent guidance, grace, freedom, and the journey toward your goals with precision. And in my logo, the double-tipped arrow holds a special message—signifying balance, reciprocity, and the flow of energy between two forces. It reflects the sacred exchange that takes place in coaching and healing: between practitioner and client, human and higher power, intention and transformation. To me, the arrow is a reminder that every step—every draw back, every release—is part of your unique path toward wholeness.
The Dandelion: A symbol of resilience and joy
Dandelions are more than just a symbol in my logo—they hold deep meaning for the journey of healing and transformation. To me, dandelions represent the beautiful blend of resilience and hope. The yellow flower mirrors the warmth of the sun, the white puff the calm of the moon, and when the seeds are blown into the wind, they become like tiny stars—carrying wishes, dreams, and intentions far and wide. Wishing on a dandelion is something many of us remember from childhood, yet it continues to bring wonder to people of all ages. It's a universal moment of joy and connection—simple, powerful, and filled with possibility. Every part of the dandelion has healing properties, just like every part of our own stories holds meaning. It grows in even the harshest of places—between cracks in concrete, in forgotten corners—thriving where others might not. The dandelion doesn’t ask for permission to bloom, and it doesn’t shrink because it's called a weed. It simply rises, again and again. That’s the kind of strength and quiet beauty I see in the people I work with—and that’s why the dandelion is such an important part of The Embodiment Journey.
The Colors: Calming the path within
The colors throughout The Embodiment Journey were chosen with care and intention. Teal and purple not only complement each other visually—they carry deep meaning that reflects the heart of this work. Teal represents renewal, individuality, and emotional balance. It blends the calm of blue with the grounding of green, offering a sense of steadiness in the midst of transformation. Teal is supportive, healing, and insightful—an anchor when things feel overwhelming. Purple is a color of intuition, spiritual growth, and inner wisdom. It brings together the energy of red and the calm of blue, symbolizing harmony between the physical and spiritual. Purple encourages you to go inward, awaken your creativity, and connect with your deeper self. On the website, you'll notice dusty, softened shades of teal and purple. These muted tones are used intentionally to create a calming, welcoming space—free from sensory overload. In contrast, the brighter teal and richer purple in the logo serve as a gentle focal point. They symbolize clarity, movement, and ease—subtly guiding you forward on your healing path. Together, these colors reflect the journey: grounded, expansive, intuitive, and deeply personal.
